AlexBank launched “Alex Safe”; the latest safe deposit box service supported by an integrated computer system, to provide the highest security standards for clients. “Alex Safe” is one of the growing demand products in the banking sector and the Egyptian market, especially in light of the current security conditions. The service is being launched in 23 branches, as the first phase, and will serve more than 10000 clients, offering the needed privacy for clients and providing safe keeping for their valuable possessions. “Alex Safe represents a core service of the bank, especially during the coming period, due to the significant demand on storing valuable possessions like; jewelry, gold, documents, etc. As a result of the increasing need for this service, our team conducted a dedicated study on clients’ needs and wants, and an integrated safe deposit box service was developed to satisfy their demands”, noted Mr. Bassel Rahmy, Head of the Retail Banking Group at AlexBank. Mr. Rahmy expects that the demand on safe boxes will increase in the next period, due to the current security conditions and unstable political events in Egypt and as client’s security needs continue to evolve.

SHERATON CAIRO CLOSE FOR MAJOR RENOVATION
Iconic Hotel to Re-Open Following Extensive Refurbishment in the summer 2012 Starwood Hotels & Resorts & the owning company of Sheraton Cairo Hotel Towers & Casino has recently announced the temporary closer of the hotel as of 1 October 2011. The temporary closure of the hotel will allow renovation works to be completed smoothly and safely while ensuring an on time re-opening in the summer of 2012. When this iconic hotel re-opens, the newly refurbished Sheraton Cairo will debut a sleek new look and upgraded facilities. The renovation, which began in 2010, is considered one of the most comprehensive ever done within an operating property. The project includes 656 fully renovated guest rooms, nine renovated restaurants and bars, a new entrance, new façade, fully-equipped business centre, new ballrooms, health club and lobby. All public areas will continue to reflect the historical standing of the hotel as one of the city’s landmarks since its opening in 1970. Located on the west bank of the River Nile in unique adjoining towers, Sheraton Cairo is wholly owned by the Arab Company for Tourist Projects, which also owns a group of hotels along with significant shareholdings in companies, specialized in the same field. The Arab Company for Tourist Projects is one of the Investment Companies working in the Arab Republic of Egypt and is fully owned by the Libyan Foreign Investment Company. The hotel is operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Hilton Worldwide announced that Mr. Medhat Samir got the post of the General Manager of Hilton Cairo Zamalek Residences. Medhat has a long track record in the hotel and hospitality industry for 22 years of experience and outstanding work for Hilton Worldwide Hotels in addition to other international hotel chains in Egypt. He held several managerial posts in the field of hotels; the recent one is his work as the Director of Business Development of Ramses Hilton. Daniela Skopnik has taken over the Marketing helm of the 269 room’s hotel and brings with her extensive experience that she has cultivated from working for the past 24 years across the Hotel industry. A veteran hotelier Mrs. Skopnik started her career almost twenty-four years ago in London; she later joined the opening team at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence in 2000 as Senior Sales Manager and was instrumental in establishing the hotel during those early days. She later broadened her scope when she was responsible for the sales of all Four Seasons Hotels in Egypt to the European market. Her Sales and Marketing experience in hotels is very broad and deep and includes five countries and held several position from sales manager to vice president of marketing for such brands as Inter Continental, Accor, Swiss Inns and the M.A. Kharafi Group. Daniela has the Midas touch, and with that, she will lead the Sales and Marketing team at Four Seasons Cairo at The First Residence with the same passion and panache that she is known for.
