President & COO of Marriott International visits Egypt

Mr. Arne Sorenson. President & COO of Marriott International arrived in Cairo for a short visit to Egypt during which he toured some Marriott International hotels and projects in Egypt. The visit comes to reassure Marriott international strong interest in investing and developing hotels in Egypt and their extreme will in having a sustainable and continued presence in the Egyptian market which is one of the most important travel markets on the world travel chart. Mr. Arne Sorenson’s first stop during his visit was at Cairo Marriott Hotel in Zamalek which is a flagship for Marriott’s in Egypt since it was opened in 1982. As part of the visit Mr. Sorenson met with Mr. Ali Abdel Aziz Chairman of HOTAC, Holding Company for Tourism and Cinema, and Mr. Nabil Selim, Chairman of EGOTH, Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels. Discussions took place about future mutual cooperation and Marriott’s investments in Egypt in the coming period. Mr. Sorenson also inspected the development of the future Nile Ritz Carlton site. Mr. Aziz & Mr. Sorenson witnessed the signing of the Cairo Marriott management contract renewal among top officials of Marriott and EGOTH and signed by Mr. Nabil Selim and Mr. Ed Fuller, Marriott President & Managing Director, International Lodging Operation MEA & AP, Mr. Sorenson was welcomed by all members of the Executive Committee of the Cairo Marriott Hotel headed by General Manager Mr. Richard Zeolla.

New Food & Beverage Manager

Grand Nile Tower Hosts Embassy Of Ksa Forum “Riyadh Elnil”

Grand Nile Tower recently hosted the periodic seminars of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia’s Forum “Riyadh El Nile”. HE Ahmed Al Kattan, Ambassador of KSA in Egypt invited several Arab ambassadors, politicians, key figures of the media and press in Egypt. HE Kattan highlighted the strong bond of cultural communication between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and pointed out that he chose the name “Riyadh El Nil” to combine the name of Riyadh, the capital of his country, and the great Nile River of Egypt. The forum witnessed the attendance of senior politicians in Egypt and the Arab world such as Mr. Amr Moussa, former General Secretary of the Arab League, Dr. Nabil Al Araby, General Secretary of the Arab League, and the majority of Arab Ambassadors in Egypt. HE Kattan stressed on the fact that both countries have strong historic relationship and accordingly his country fully supports Egypt without interfering in the internal affairs of Egypt. The ceremony was held at Farhaty ballroom with its stunning views overlooking the great River Nile. Grand Nile Tower hosts CBC Channel Launching

Grand Nile Tower hosted the ceremony of launching CBC channel at Farhaty ballroom. The elegant ceremony witnessed the attendance of Egypt’s renowned media, top journalists and public figures. The ceremony started with a speech by Mohamed Al Amin, owner of the channel about the channel’s mission towards the community, conducting a very intellectual press conference to show CBC channel’s mission, directions and objectives. Al Amin asserted the fact that the channel is not affiliated with any political party and its mission is to serve Egyptian people by reflecting the reality; and the screen is just a window to show the public view on issues in Egypt. The press conference was headed by CBC channel team: Adel Hammouda, Editor in Chief Al Fajr newspaper, Magdy El Gallad, Editor in Chief Al Masry Alyoum newspaper, Lamis El Hadidy, Khairy Ramadan, Abdel Rahman Youssef, Mona Abdel Ghani, Mofida Sheeha, Amira Bahy El Deen, Akram Hosny and Mohamed Hany president of the channel who ran the press conference. The press conference was followed by dinner held at Farhaty ballroom with its stunning views overlooking the great River Nile. Ramses Hilton wins Golden, Silver and Bronze Medals at National Salon Culinaire

Haitham Nassar, Ramses Hilton General Manager held a special ceremony in honor of Ramses Hilton Chefs who achieved superior ranks in the Salon Culinaire 2011 competition held recently in Cairo. Chef Ibrahim El Sayed from the Bakery won a Golden Medal, Chef Mostafa Hassan from the cold section won a Silver Medal and 2 Bronze Medals won by Chef Peter Yousry and Chef Mohamed Ahmed. Annual National Salon Culinaire At InterContinental Cairo Citystars

National Salon Culinaire’ is one of the biggest annual events organized by the Egyptian Chefs Association took place at InterContinental Cairo Citystars. The main theme behind this year’s salon is reviving tourism in Egypt and showcasing the great talents of local chefs. Special theme colors this year were red; black and white which represent the Egyptian flag, all chefs celebrated in a parade waving the Egyptian flag while the national anthem played in the background. Chefs competed in different categories such as appetizers, main dishes, deserts and wedding cakes. The event ended with an extravagant Gala dinner in the Lebanese restaurant Fayruz and included some of the top hospitality figures. Photo shows Chefs participating in the Salon.

Sameh Sobhy, Hotel Manager Semiramis InterContinental Cairo

Pascal Gauvin, Vice President Operations Near East and Africa, InterContinental Hotels Group, announced the promotion of Sameh Sobhy to Hotel Manager of the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo. Sobhy has been working with the InterContinental Hotels and Resorts for 24 years, during which he developed a high standard of performance and efficiency. He joined the Semiramis InterContinental sales team in 1987, followed by Churchill InterContinental London, then IHC Regional Sales Office Egypt. In 1996, he was appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for InterContinental Pyramids Park, and then in 1998 he was back to Semiramis InterContinental as Director of Sales. In 2004 he was promoted to Area Director of Sales & Marketing InterContinental Hotels Group and then to Executive Assistant Manager Semiramis InterContinental Cairo in 2005 and finally to Resident Manager in 2007. He is married with two children and his favourite hobbies are sports, travelling and cars. Sobhy is looking forward to his role as the first Egyptian Hotel Manager to manage the iconic & historic Semiramis InterContinental.
