What are your thoughts and expectations regarding the verdict in the case against Mubarak on charges of ordering the killing of protesters against his rule and corruption, due on June 2nd…?

Dahlia Nassar

It’s both irrational and illogical to assume that he did not know the protesters were being targeted. That’s why I believe he is jointly responsible for what happened and accordingly must bear the legal and political responsibility.

Marwa Nehad

Well, definitely this is a transitional period in Egypt’s history. The past period has witnessed major changes, from Mubarak stepping
down, the collapse of the regime, as well as unveiling the truth about corrupted icons from the government and the business sector. Regarding the verdict in Mubarak’s case on the charges of ordering to kill protesters, I really hope for justice to be implemented based on evidences and facts not just for satisfying the public. If Mubarak gave a direct order for killing protestors then he has to be held responsible for this massacre. Finally, I think what’s important now is looking forward on how we can actually build Egypt and enforce our economy rather than focusing on past incidents and keep standing still…

Hana Renor

Hosni Mubarak and his sons have denied the indictments and refuse to accept accountability for systematic silencing of opposition adds staunch evidence against his despotic regime. It seems likely then, that the dictator will be found guilty given the three decades of numerous human rights violations under his leadership. Furthermore, the testimony of 2,000 witnesses, some of whom were police officers carrying out explicit orders to open fire on protestors will be hard to dispute. Even more challenging to prove innocence will be during a probable trial in which he would be held accountable for suppressing Egypt’s plea for economic advancement and democracy.

Hossam El Maraghy

I believe that justice should be served regardless the importance of the person persecuted; however, it seems that there isn’t enough evidence to charge the expresident. Hence, I think he will not be convicted.
