letter from Dalia

“A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken...”

It’s the summer issue; I adore this issue and this time of year, after a very long and hectic year comes the summer with joyfulness, sun, and peace of mind. I believe we’ve all made plans to enjoy it; wash our brains, pamper ourselves, get the perfect tan, and of course hang out, and allow me to seize this opportunity and wish you all in advance, Happy Ramadan and many blessings for this holy month.

In every issue we try to do our best to please you, but this issue was different by all means. It is the Musical, Fashion issue; it is a fully packed instalment with all kinds of Musical interviews, fashion shoots and articles, and of course our regular chapters. Inside you will find the MEMA coverage. For the third consecutive year DG magazine celebrated the Middle East music Awards ceremony under the patronage of the Musical Syndicate. It was a hit night complete with our beloved male and female singers, adults and youth, in sync at this extraordinary night to receive their trophies and appreciation awards. Congratulations to all the winners and don’t miss the coverage within.

Our Cover story is the king of Romance Khaled Selim. In his interview with Fairouz Tayseer, he tells us all about the diversity of the album’s songs, his upcoming cinema projects, and innovative comeback, in addition to much, much more regarding his new look, and to cover all the music aspects, we couldn’t miss out on having the very talented MEMA Best Director for 2009 Laila Kannan share her story as a young director with a different vision. Her clips are daring yet decent, authentic yet modern. Know more about Laila Kannan in her interview with DG. More on Music with Salah Ghaly our “Who’s that face” for this issue; he has a tender and touching voice, and has enormous dreams to achieve. Salah will introduce himself to our readers inside.

As I mentioned above this is the Musical-Fashion issue, and so we are having different fashion shoots from inside and outside of Egypt. The latest trends from Burberry, D.V.F (Diane Von Furstenberg), Prada, and Christian Louboutin all in one elegant fashion shoot. And from Egypt Sally K’s latest collection for soiree attires is simply beautiful and stylish.

Elie Saab’s sophistication in this issue, we will get to know his biography and latest works from this interview.

Dashing off to the beach are we? Well make sure you have the right and essential items in your bag. What to wear and what not plus the latest trends in “Beach Essentials”.

If you’re interested to see the difference between the Egyptian and Spanish taste of jewellery designs, you will find inside two talented jewellery designers; Patricia Nicolas from Spain and Deena Wagdy from Egypt with their latest jewellery collection.

Who else than Harrods in UK could we include in our fashion issue. It is the trophy shop and the most world famous store home to the most luxurious products and services. Read inside about the selling story by Mohamed El Fayed to Qatar Holding Company.

With the sun and beach we couldn’t miss getting you some tips about facial sun care in the beauty article ‘Sun = skin aging + damaging your skin’ by Hossam El Maghraby.

Marina Love, the last ghost, I know it cuz I feel it... summer curves, beauty VS brains, and 86 keys to success by Dahlia Nassar, all these features in our summer issue plus Dahlia Nassar’s Quiz; Are you emotionally high maintenance? I bet you just won’t know where to begin reading while tanning on the beach.

Moving on to a remarkable idea which came to a young man and unexpectedly translated it to a group on face book called’ Minimum charge…Think differently’. The idea is about helping needy people in different ways instead of just spending our money on paying minimum charges at various restaurants and cafes. Well, yes we can enjoy our lives but still help others and maybe save lives by making a contribution. What is also amazing about this initiative was the rapid increase of the recruited members from young people in a very short period and their concern and compassion regardless of their young age. I aspire that our love for Egypt will persevere with attaining the best inside us.

Who will win FIFA World Cup 2010? I think it is a hard question but very soon we will know the answer, maybe be before you have the magazine in your hands. Any way the beginning of the cup was slightly weak and not up to expectations but at the beginning of the finals we started enjoying the good play and it became increasingly thrilling, I think we all can’t wait to know the World Cup 2010 winner.

As for the rest of the magazine we have all our regular chapters; DG All Around with its spectacular destinations, and DG Business section for all business lovers with a diversity of articles in different fields. One last thing I would like to comment on is our contributor’s question for this issue. Have you ever dreamt of being a president? Perhaps many of us haven’t, but why don’t we start thinking - not because of the position itself but because of the amendments and corrections we all dream about for our country, and possibly start accomplishing what is possible and easy for us as normal citizens.

Hope you all enjoy this issue and have fun in your vacations...
