Dear Guest Festival 2014

Taking place on the night of December 19th at the famous Dusit Thani Lake View Hotel, located in the fifth settlement in New Cairo, was the years most anticipated event. Our 11th DG Festival. The star-studded event has a guest list which is comprised of Egypt’s most iconic musicians, actors, artists, TV and Radio presenters. The night was all about distinction - celebrating the years most striking achievements, and from my standpoint - this year was more successful than ever...

As a tradition, the stunning host, Poussy Shalaby took to the stage and welcomed the guests. Shortly followed by Dear Guest CEO , Maged Hosny - who began the night with a short succinct speech to express his appreciation for all the attendees. The pioneering and leading names from each field attend, anxious to receive their awards, while their colleagues’ cheerfully applaud and praise each other with admiration. This year the committee presented the Career Appreciation Award to our legendary actor Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, one of the most prominent Egyptian motion-picture actors of his generation, noted for both his vastness and versatile portrayals of unconventional roles. He was also voted TV best actor for 2014. The credible, unforgettable success story of Soheir Ramzy earned her an Appreciation Award.

Amr Diab and Sherine Abdul Wahab both won individual awards after being voted best male/female singers throughout 2014. As Sherine walked up onto the stage to accept her award, she mesmerized the audience with her beautiful voice and rocked the stage with her performance. Sherine won two additional awards for best album “Ana Keteir” and best song “Koli Melkak”. While the best clip award went to the stunning Latifa’s “Enta A7la 7aga Fia”.

Distinguished leading lady, Nelly Karim won the TV best actress award acknowledging her impressive performances. The best actor/actress awards in cinema deservedly went to Ahmed El Saka and Hend Sabry. The cast of Gezira were there to accept their award for film of the year and their emotions ran wild as tears of joy couldn’t be held back as they expressed the happiness they felt for all their hard work, and accordingly the success of receiving this award to acknowledge their achievements.

The credible work of Wafaa Amer and Tarek Lotfi in “Gabal El Halal” earned them both DG Special Awards, along with the commendable performances of Khaled Zaki, Edward and the adorable ‘Lady in Red’ Lebleba, for their roles in “Sa7eb El Saada”.

Everybody’s favorite Salwa Khatab, along with Roubi and Dorra were among the awarded for their outstanding performance in “Segn El Nesa”.

Everybody’s favorite Ahmed Helmy won the award for the best comedian in cinema while the gorgeous Yasmine Abdul Aziz won the award in the female category. The endearing Emy Samir Ghanem took home the award for TV best female comedian along with the comical Mohamed Saad who was voted TV best comedian in the Male category.

Hana Shiha were also awarded DG Special Awards for her incredible performance in “Sab3a Wasaya” series.

Other big winners were Youssef El Sherif and Dina Fouad, who were both awarded Special awards for their amazing roles in “ El Sayad” series. Amr Youssef was awarded for his role in “3ad Tanazoli”. The talented Ahmed Zaher won an award for his role in “Kalam Ala Warak”, while Mohamed Soliman took home an award for his role in “Heba Regl El Ghorab”.

Gamal El Adl was awarded for his much deserved effort in series production. Hany El Behery took home an award for his stunning Fashion Designing. The well established Sherif Arafa was voted this years best director, and Ayman Bahgat Amar won an award for his unrivaled script. Tooma’s outstanding ability earned him an award for best music arranger, along with the innovative Walid
Saad, who was winner of the best composer award.

The increasingly popular and enthusiastic TV presenter Amr Adib won an award for best presenter, while the best director award went to Kamla Abou Zekry. Best Script Writer award went to Amr Samir Atef.

The dearly loved talk show “Sahebat Al Saada” was voted best program for 2014, and the lovable Esaad Younis took to the stage to accept the much deserved award, and the best female presenter award went to the gorgeous Wafaa El Kilani.

Ahmed Shobier was awarded as this years best sports presenter, while the best Female Radio Announcer award went to Mariam Amin, and the best radio announcer was voted Fadi Ibrahim. Tele Serve’s Ahmed Swillam was awarded DG Special Award for his role in Sports investment.

The amazing, breathtaking Dusit Thani Lake view Hotel was awarded the DG Special Award for their continuous support of the Festival.

Rami Gamal and Carmen Soliman won the best youth singer awards for the best male/female artists, and the best rising singer awards went to Abdallah Abdel Aziz in the male category and Rana Samaha in the female category. The best corporate song award went to “Efta7 Albak”.

Walid Mansour was presented an award for his role in organizing events; Andoni Khoury was awarded for his role in the online marketing and the unique magazine website EgyGo, and the solid hard work which incessantly proves to be an ultimate success, while Emad Kassem won an award for the perpetual perseverance and remarkable photography.

Hamza El Aily and Nesrine Amin, the 2014 winners of the category of best youth male/female actor/ actress in Television, while the friendly Nedal El Shafei and charming Arwa Gouda won the exact same title in the cinema category. These awards in particular encourage young talents in achieving soaring performances, and motivate them to discover and optimize the valuable use of their influence towards younger generations.

Each year the event is becoming noticeably bigger and better. And this year was no exception as the highly anticipated award night saw the prevalence of celebrities who graced the red carpet. So the award season has come and gone, and we’ve more or less closed the book on 2014. The 11th DG Festival found some great work and accordingly, deservedly rewarded it. It was a joyous night that reminds us of the artistry and emotions that brings us all together every year, and to that we take solace in knowing God willing -- we’ll meet yet again. Here’s to looking forward to many more celebrations of exclusivity, elegance and aspiration...
