Randa Hafez

Randa Hafez has the determination to make a credible mark within the music industry – free of disrespecting her morality. Inadvertently or not, she is redefining an aura of entrenched dignity. Read on, as Randa Hafez emerges as an independent woman who knows exactly
what she wants…

We would like to introduce Randa Hafez to our readers, and let them know all about your beginning?
I used to live in the Emirates during my early youth. I played gymnastics and achieved a lot of championships and gained numerous prizes and medals. Once I was punished by my trainer because I did something wrong during my training, I decided to find another hobby and started to go to the music classes at school. I started to listen carefully and played what I heard. I was very talented to the extent that my teacher called my father and told him how greatly I was talented and she explained that I am careless too and need to take music seriously. My father bought me a small piano and I heard a song for Abdel Halim Hafez and played it on my own from the first time, at this point I became more persuaded of my talent and concentrated entirely on music. When we came back to Egypt I didn’t have many friends so I asked my parents to let me study music professionally and I started to go to the Opera House. I used to watch Star Academy program and told my parents that I wanted to join the program the next year and I did, but I was out from the early stages because I was still young and couldn’t bear the duties and obligations of the program. I went back to the Opera House until I met my current production company.

What has fame changed in you?
Nothing, I am still the same Randa Hafez; I recognize that fame and stardom are not permanent and I love to live an ordinary life. I am not singing due to stardom, but because I love music.

We heard that Tamer Hosny helped you financially in your last clip “Sakta Alaya”, is it true and is it possible to find you with Tamer in a new song?
Yes this is true; my production company had financial problems during the preparation of my album and that delayed the release of my album and clip. I met Tamer by coincidence and he asked me about my album and clip and I told him about the problem. He offered to help me to release the album on time. I learnt a lot from Tamer’s attitude. We have to help each other and the big stars as Tamer Hosny and others ought to assist the beginners and this is how the music industry can grow better and thrive. Thanks to God my album was released on time. I hope I can work with Tamer soon; it would be a great opportunity.

What are your plans for the future especially after wining the MEMA 2009 encouragement award?
First of all, I am thrilled because of this award; it was my bonus for the effort I exerted in the album. I worked on this album for three years and needed someone to say to me that I am doing fine, keep up the hard work. I plan to do so, and further prove myself. Perhaps next time I can win the Best Female Singer title. It is a great honor to win this prize. The MEMA is a highly regarded award.

What do you think of the programs that present new talents to the music field, such as; Star Academy, Studio El Phan, and others?
These programs are great. They teach the singers how to sing, play instruments, pronounce correctly, and lots of other things. The problem is that the participants are successful and became like huge stars providing they are in the program. Once the program is finished most of the participants don’t continue, and disappear from the music field. A few of them complete their singing career and succeed. I don’t understand why this happens.

How do you deal with rumors and gossip?
I don’t care about lies or rumors. I read about myself in the tabloids. I don’t give comments because they will carry on doing so regardless. I know myself and the readers are smart enough to tell between truth and lies. They wrote a great deal about a relationship between Tamer Hosny and I - I believe I made it clear about my relationship with Tamer.

Who would you like to partake in a duet with, and can you sing songs for children like Haifaa Wahby and Nancy Agram?
I dream and hope to partake in a duet with Amr Diab. And I loved what Haifaa Wahby and Nancy Agram presented for the children. I would love to do something similar, but when I find the appropriate lyrics and melodies.

Do you think video clips are essential now for the success of
the song, and can you shoot a clip with daring scenes?

Absolutely, it is important and extremely necessary. And no I can’t shoot daring scenes in my clips because I respect myself, my family, and my audience. My desire is to enter every house with a decent image, good lyrics and melodies, and to have the people watch me without being shy or offended.

How do you define these words?
Future:
in God’s hand
Love: hard to find it

What do you say to these people?
Tamer Hosny: wish him all the best
Mohamed Hamed: whether we will work together or not, I am so happy we did once before.
Your mother: I ask God to protect her for me.

“ I dream and hope to partake in a duet with Amr Diab”
