Diana Karazon

At the young age of 6, stunning Jordanian singer Diana Karazon sang in public, a song entitled ‘Ya Ayyuha Al Maliko’, in the glory of King Hussein of Jordan. Diana discovered music through her father who himself is a musician and a member of the Jordanian Artists Association. She later rose to popularity and became a famous name in Modern Arabic Music around the world after participating in Superstar and winning first place in the competition. She has one brother, and two twin sisters. We had a chance to sit down with the Super Star herself and ask who she considers her inspiration and who she attributes all her success to…

Tell us a little about Diana Karazon?
I am a very simple person yet keen on details -- I care a lot about my work, looks, and all my surroundings. I love life, but sometimes I feel disheartened as any person, but thankfully my work always gets me out of this state.

How do you deal with gossip and do you believe that these rumors are how you pay for stardom and fame?
I guess it depends upon the rumor itself. Not at all, I don’t believe rumors are a price for stardom. In fact, I think sometimes my compassion and blind confidence in people is what causes these issues – occasionally kindness is misinterpreted.

What do you think about the many voices within the music field nowadays?
This is absolutely normal and healthy. Whoever works hard will achieve the best.

How do you perceive the Egyptian revolution songs and which one did you like most of all?
Most of the songs were alive with the patriotic sense. I loved Mohamed Mounir and Good Morning Egypt songs.

What do you think about the talents shows?
Definitely a good chance for appearance, but what really counts is everyone’s talent and hard work.

Tell us about your upcoming album, and would you ever consider presenting a religious album?
I am preparing for it, but slowly because I want to take very good care of my choices. And yes I might consider presenting a religious album.

How can a singer be universal and when will we see Diana singing abroad in foreign countries? And what do you think about the international music awards?
Any singer can reach International stardom through hard work and good choices. I was the first female Arabic singer to perform at the 45th Montreux Jazz Music Festival in Switzerland this summer and I was chosen by the legendary Quincy Jones. As for the awards whether it is local or international, it is a real motive for everyone to work hard and seek perfection to gain these awards.

Moving on to acting. We heard that you weren’t satisfied with regards to your debut series “Montaha El Eshq” why, and what are your dream roles?
Yes, I wasn’t satisfied because of production and personal problems. I would love to act in significant, profound works. I love romantic roles.

In a few words, what do you say about?
Fashion:
the law of modern appearance.
Feminism: a blessing from God.
Beauty: a double-sided weapon.
Money: a mean -- but not a target.
Motherhood: the true feeling I am dreaming about.
Romance: the absence of mind so that the heart deals freely and with no conditions.

Did your family help you to choose your career?
Well yes, they helped me in everything, they are always behind me.My mother has a beautiful voice and she is the one who encouraged me to sing since my childhood and my father used to play the Guitar, he is a member in the music syndicate.
Some actors and actresses started to work in politics after the revolution, what are your thoughts?
I think it is beneficial as the artists influence their societies greatly.

What kills love?
Betrayal, lying, carelessness, and doubt…

At last, who would you like to send a love letter to?
To everyone who loves me and supported me, to the Egyptian people everywhere. I love you all…
