The event drew a capacity crowd of 250 CEBC members including a number of high-profile cabinet ministers, media, tourism figures, ambassadors and officials. Clean-up Day

 
Employees gave their time to a Clean-up Day in Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Resort. This effort is part of Marriott International’s Spirit To Serve Our Communities Day, a worldwide initiative that enlists 151,000 employees from over 3,000 locations in 67 countries to deliver community service through volunteerism. Business leaders from all Marriott brands and businesses have pledged to dedicate a day to helping others during or close to the third week of May.

All the department heads of Radisson SAS Hotel, Alexandria – located at the site of Alex West project – along with Ashraf Naguib the General Manager, Siegfried Nierhaus , Director of future openings and Ahmed kira the owning company representative have gathered to place the final touches & update their count down lists getting ready for the hotel expected soft opening in match 2009. All the staff members are very enthusiastic & willing to place the hotel as a market leader in Alexandria.

Radisson SAS

This small, but significant name change marks the latest step forward in the remarkable Radisson SAS success story and reflects the natural end of Radisson’s links with the SAS Group following Rezidor’s IPO back in November 2006. The name change was announced on Wednesday 4 February 2009, at the Grand Opening party of the first Radisson Blu: the stunning Radisson Blu Hotel, Zurich Airport.

The Marriott Red Sea

 
The Marriott Red Sea Resorts in Egypt have recently completed a three day navigating through Change training course. The training was attended by associates from Sharm El Sheikh Marriott, Renaissance Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada Marriott Resort and Taba Marriott Resort. The group participated in group discussions, gatherings, games and energizers. The Training instructors were: Mrs. Fatma Abbas, Area Director of Training, Middle East and Africa and Walid Mahfouz, Director of Training, JW Marriott Cairo.

Karim Fouad

Karim Fouad, Director of Services of Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Resort announced the promotion of Hamdy Sakr as Executive Housekeeper for his hard work and outstanding results in the House keeping department since joining the resort since the opening in 1996.

The Semiramis Intercontinental hotel

Team from the Semiramis Intercontinental hotel management and employees lead by the General Manager Juergen Baumhoff visited the Association for the Protection of the Environment to celebrate the Golden Nugget Award recently won by the hotel for its community activities and its recycling program and continued active role in serving and supporting community projects. A.P.E. is a private voluntary organization. Its Headquarters is in the Mokattam area of Cairo. Egypt. It has branches and committees in other areas and regions. It combines its aim to protect the environment and improve the livelihood of the garbage collectors communities through empowering them particularly their women, children and youth to become technologically able to manage a viable system of household waste including recycling in Egypt through comprehensive development: health, education, social, economic and cultural programs to become agents of change for a better environment.

Starwood International

Starwood International for Hotels and Resorts has chosen Sheraton Montazah Hotel in Alexandria to hold the annual budget meeting for starwood Hotels Egypt . The meetings and work shops that lasted for 5 days consecutively were attended by the General Managers, Directors of sales, Directors of finance, Directors of Revenue, HR & Six Sigma Directors of Starwood Hotels Egypt and the Area Directors in presence of Hassan Ahdab, Vice President Starwood Hotels Africa and the Indian Ocean, Jean Pierr jokiel, Regional Director of finance, Marisa Aranha, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing , Sananikone Manomak, Regional Director of Revenue Management and Gueye Abib, Regional HR Director of Africa and the Indian Ocean together with Ibrahim Fahmy, Area Director stay wood Hotels Egypt.

Nagy Arafat

The Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Red Sea Resort's team celebrated its great success after a drop of 4 consecutive years in Marriott Brand standard score. After a year full of success stories, hard work and strong efforts, the Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Red Sea Resort has got a remarkable score of 92%. "The property was in the Red Zone for the last four consecutive years, getting seventies, this year was a unique and difficult year for all Sharm El Sheikh Marriott's associates, said Nagy Arafat, General Manager of the resort. "All associates worked hard, lot of changes have been applied, lot of new ideas to exceed our guests expectations, working in a team work, in a friendliness atmosphere, everybody wants to help to satisfy guest needs. All associates were proud of this big success."

jigsaw challenge

The Intercontinental Pyramids Park Resort team celebrated the 5th jigsaw challenge from Intercontinental hotels Group World wide; the winning Ways jigsaw Challenge is an Intercontinental Hotels group Global initiative, where all the company Hotels worldwide submits for launching new projects or supporting initiatives for each winning way. Intercontinental Pyramids Park sponsored a charity event on weekly and monthly basis with a Homeless senior Ladies Home near the resort . The aim is to make a change in their daily routine life. Twenty five serious ladies aged between seventy and eighty years live in this home. The charity event included donations as well as weekly and monthly activities. Starwood introduced StarVoice

Based on Starwood belief of the importance of associates' satisfaction and engagement to achieve the company goal of exceeding the expectations of customers, owners and shareholders, ultimate attention is given to seek employees' opinion in the company leadership and management style. In order to better measure associate engagement -- and act on it  - Starwood introduced StarVoice, Best In Class Survey, a new associate survey that give each and every associate the opportunity to provide feedback in their local language to the management leadership where they work as well as their opinion in their direct managers. The survey was carried in each and every property all over the world, in which 850 properties in more than 95 countries and 145,000 employees participated. Team members

In creating a team spirit and strengthening ties between Ramses Hilton team members, Haitham Nassar, General Manager has invited the team members and their families to an outing in a sports club overlooking the River Nile. Team members spent an entire day of fun where contests were held in football, volleyball, ping-pong and chess, children enjoyed the family day playing the sack race, egg and spoon and tug-of-war as well as the magician and clown show. At the end of this successful event, which was organized by Magda Abdel Wahab, Human Resources Manager and her Team, Haitham Nassar, General Manager distributed valuable gifts and prizes to the winners.

George Bell

Conrad Cairo has recently hosted the launch of the third Arabic - language edition for Guinness World Records Book. George Bell who is 223 cm was the spot light of the event, as the campaign setup the search for the tallest man in Egypt. Gold Travelife Award

The Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort has recently received Gold Travelife Award for its commitment to environmental and social
sustainability. Aware of the need for responsible practice in resorts, leading tour operators in Europe are using a system called Travelife to assess hotels. It is fast becoming the most applicable system for use by Tour Operators and the only scheme chosen by them to be featured in future brochures. Grand Rotana Resort & Spa had the honor for being chosen to host King of Lesotho, H.M King Letsie III & his family for 8 days during their private visit to Sharm El Sheikh. Salvator Adamo

 
France's great francophone singer, Salvator Adamo, the most successful French singer of his time, recently played at the Semiramis InterContinental. It was the first time ever that Adamo performed in Egypt in a concert held under the auspices of the French Embassy in Cairo. His songs were genuine and amongst his repertoire were worldwide hits Vous Permettez Monsieur, the infamous Tombe la Neige, Inch Allah, and La nuit. Maged Nasr

Ahmed El Hady, Regional Director of Marketing Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in Egypt and Jordan, announced the appointment of Maged Nasr as the new Director of Sales and Marketing for Grand Hyatt Cairo. Coming from Steigenberger hotels whereby he was holding the position of the Regional Director of Marketing for Steigenberger properties in Egypt, Maged brings to Grand Hyatt Cairo marketing team many years of experience in several International hotel chains such as Starwood, and Intercontinental.

"The evolution in the types of tourism in Alexandria specifically implied introducing a property like Radisson SAS “says Dalia” for its remarkable Corporate, MICE & entertainment facilities".

Nihad Kattan

During a recent visit to Taba Heights Marriott Red Sea Resort, Nihad Kattan, Marriott International vice president for the Middle East & Africa, celebrated career milestones with two associates. Jan G. Has been celebrated 25 years with Marriott International. He started his career in his native Holland and held key positions in Asia Pacific, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan before becoming General Manager in Taba Heights. Wael Amer celebrated 20 years with Marriott International. He began at the Cairo Marriott and held positions in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada before joining the team in Taba last year as Resident Manager.
