Truth-be-told, this imminent stage is as exciting as it is daunting; I am hopeful that he’ll be an individual with enough substance, courage, charisma, & integrity to lead this diverse nation, and although I aspire for real change in the culture and thinking of Egyptians – I can’t help but pray that these politicians who have never actually had the opportunity to work with one another in a serious way will take this opportunity to cooperate in making Egypt a beacon of hope for each and everyone of us...

Nadirah Angail

I look at the issues that are most important to me (education, health care, economy) and listen to what the candidate’s plans are for those areas. In general, I don’t like politics, because it seems the things that should happen are the hardest to make progress on. So many serving hidden (or not so hidden) interests that they will literally fight against positive change. It’s a sad situation, but I try to make the best of whatever I’m dealt.

LILIAN Wagdy

Well apart from the SCAF poll that has been cancelled now due to results being tampered with, my criteria for choosing the president will be modesty and genuine willingness to serve the Egyptian people. He or She must realize that what awaits them is no easy task and they have to show perseverance and decisiveness in dealing with major issues that hinder the development of Egypt such as corruption. In short, I would choose whomever I feel has the best interest of this country at heart.

Fayrouz Tayseer

I think we are all dreaming of a new Egypt, a better Egypt. I wish I can see my country as clean and organized as Switzerland and as economically robust as UAE, or even better. Accordingly, I would choose the candidate who has a clear plan to take Egypt to a whole new level. That would be the candidate who would seriously work on achieving the following in the next five years:
Enhance the living conditions for all Egyptians.
Provide proper medical care that is available free of charge for those who can’t afford it.
Restructure the educational system and improve public schools and universities. (A lot of work needs to be done in this area).
Improve the infrastructure and public utilities; after all we do not pay all these taxes to receive zero level of service.
Remove all the irrational taxes that imposed during the old regime, such as real estate tax and the development tariff.
Provide a new strategic and economic plan that would put Egypt in high ranking within the international arena.
Improve our relationship with the Arab countries and the African countries; these will create strong allies and strengthen our power in the Region.
Last but not least, the new candidate must also be strategically smart to be able to protect this country from possible menace in the region.
I hope this is not too much of Superman powers; and hope that an ordinary man with an intelligent brain and passionate love for this country actually exists to make these dreams come true.

It’s going to take years to disengage all the damage the previous regime has wreaked on the nation, and with the approaching Presidential elections - we as a nation await in anticipation, a better and brighter tomorrow…

What decision making criteria they you use for choosing the Presidential candidate in which you will vote for?

KATE Arafa

First of all, I have to note that I’m not a politically concerned individual, as the revolution made me very indifferent to the media. Life has a lot of other problems, so why would anyone inattentively increase them. Consequently I am not really aware
about any of the candidates, although I recently read a short article in one of the local magazines discussing some of the
candidate’s objectives. In my opinion, I don’t believe in fast changes, in other words; nothing will change dramatically
after these elections, which ever will be chosen; accordingly I will go for the cutest candidate making sure that his objective are realistic and reasonable, not just another bunch of empty promises…

Radwa Moussa

This whole fiasco on who can speak and who has better charisma sucks for me! How on earth can we seriously continue to think this way? That doesn’t mean I am with Baradei or against Amr Moussa, but over all I feel I deserve a good Presidential campaign with clear motives and plan. My decision will be based on his short term plans rather than long term. Given the fact that I am a believer enena ben7eb el raghy we mesh ben3mel 7aga! The whole idea of in the next 4 years, and el kheta el khomaseya, doesn’t weigh anything with me but B.S! Being and Egyptian living abroad, I’m hoping to have the right to vote from abroad! That’s why I encourage each and every one to value their votes, you have a luxury that others wish to acquire and by others I mean (I ENVY YOU LOL). Short term plans and immediate solutions to the Nile problem, interior affairs as well as media would be with my turn off or changing point in the whole decision making. Wishing the best for Egypt, 2011 proved to be nothing but a roller coaster of news and incidents, hoping the upcoming presidential elections to become a wonderful and successful ending for one crazy year!
