Beautiful & Confident
Egyptian Radio’s bright young presenter might just be sashaying her way to stardom. The ambitious Hend Reda exclusively talks to DG about her opinions, life, and the politics of performing...

Can you brief us about yourself?
I am a 25 years old girl who graduated from the Deutsch School, then the American University. My dream was always to become a TV presenter, but during my university study Nogoom FM announced about a Radio competition to choose the best contestant to present a big Radio show. My mother encouraged me to go and apply for it and thanks to God I won and the people voted for me and accordingly I started to present «3eshha be shakl tany».

What can you say about Nogoom FM?
It is a simple and different Radio channel which highly succeeded to reach millions of listeners.

What about Naghm FM & Radio Misr?
Naghm Fm is a respectable Radio Channel and Radio Misr is a success-ful and professional Radio News Channel. Beautiful & Confident Egyptian Radio’s bright young presenter might just be sashaying her way to stardom. The ambitious Hend Reda exclusively talks to DG about her opinions, life, and the politics of performing...

Do you feel that Naghm FM became more successful than Nogoom FM?
No, I don›t feel so but the competition makes us more alert and concentrate more in our choices and how to do it.

What do you think about our media and which talk show do you like to watch?
We still have a lot to do to reach the international standards and we need a lot of improvements. Of course we have many positives in our media but need to exert more effort to reach the best we can. I like to watch Wael El Ebrashy , Amr Adib, Khairy Ramadan, and previously enjoyed watching Tawfiq Okasha - but not now.

Are you with or against the work of some media figures and artists in politics?
I am against that, but support their work and contribution in social life and charity activities.

Are you with or against the stoppage of Bassem Yousef›s program on CBC channel?
Well, I am against the stoppage because this is not the solution but at the same time I was astonished from the last few episodes and I felt something wrong in their content and didn›t like «Gamahir» character, and by the way I am one of Bassem Yousef›s lovers.

Are you with or against «El Sandooq Al Aswad» program for Abdel Rehim Aly ?
I am totally with it; he is such a respectable man.

What would you do if you received an embarrassing phone call on air?
It actually happened to me at the beginning of the competition, they wanted to know my reaction and thanks to God I was so cool and thanked the caller who was really silly and impolite but then I started crying hysterically.

Have you ever wanted to present and highlight a certain issue in one of your programs and were prevented by any way or another?
On Radio, never but on El Nahar Channel I signed my contract with them to present a certain program but they changed the plan totally and made me present another program called «Ezay El Se7a» , I agreed as I was still a beginner on television. This program wasn›t like me and I didn›t find myself in presenting such a kind of program. I worked for one year and then brought them a new idea for a new program to start working on it but they never fulfill their part so I left the channel.

Do you have any acting plans?
At the beginning I used to say no for acting, but I don›t know why I reconsidered this issue and consulted many big directors as Ramy Emam who encouraged me to act. I might participate in an upcoming series that will be aired next Ramadan called «Dal3 El Banat». I believe that being a presenter is somehow related to acting, because if you have any personal problems you must disregarded and show up in a different, and pleasant mood and of course this is acting. But at the end of course the talent and hard work are what count and keep you on the right track of acting.

What is your biggest fear?
Failure, I hate to fail.

What are your hobbies?
I love swimming and nowadays; traveling and fashion.

What would you like to say to the youth as you are one of them?
You have to dream, but don›t exaggerate in order to fulfill your dreams...
